Helen, GA

Richard and I traveled to Alpine Helen during the MLK holiday weekend . We decided we needed a little get-away and since our plans fell through to visit a friend in New Orleans, this is what we came up with.
If you haven't ever been to Helen, it is quite a neat place. We found a cheap room at the Helendorf Inn. We stayed in the Rapunzel tower (use to be the honeymoon suite) because it was just as cheap as a regular room. We toured the downtown area, the river, and of course the Cabbage Patch hospital. It snowed on Sunday morning so we couldn't go hiking at Anna Ruby Falls. We did make it there on our way out of town. A beautiful triple falls! We also toured a grist mill and spend a couple hours in the nearby antique store (it was a 3 story house).
Helen, GA is a fun weekend get-away. It is a unique place to go to just get-away from day to day life. I would recommend visiting this quaint little town to everyone.
